Overview of Training Programs Operated by Tholedemba Sherpa Kidug for Skill Development

1) Driving Training

This program is designed to train young individuals to become safe, responsible, and professional drivers.

  • Provides practical skills for operating motorcycles, cars, jeeps, and light vehicles.
  • Includes instruction on road signs, traffic rules, vehicle maintenance, and emergency handling.
  • Prepares trainees for the official government driving license examination.
  • Enhances access to employment opportunities both within Nepal and abroad.

2) Vocational Training

The vocational training program focuses on practical, job-oriented skills that can be immediately applied.

  • Offers training in electrical work, plumbing, machine operation, tailoring, carpentry, and similar trades.
  • Helps participants develop the skills needed to become self-reliant through employment.
  • Provides foundational knowledge for starting and managing small enterprises.

3) Music Technician Training

This training aims to build expertise in music and sound technology.

  • Covers mixing, recording, sound system setup, and operation.
  • Produces skilled technicians capable of managing sound for cultural events, festivals, and religious ceremonies.
  • Includes hands-on practice with modern audio equipment, microphone setup, and stage sound management.

4) English Language Training

This course aims to equip youth with employment-focused English language skills to help them compete internationally.

  • Covers grammar, speaking, writing, and reading skills.
  • Emphasizes “Communication English” needed for hospitality, tourism, foreign employment, and academic purposes.
  • Includes training in presentation techniques and interview preparation.

5) Basic Computer Training

This program provides essential digital literacy skills.

  • Introduces basic computer hardware and software.
  • Covers MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email use, and internet navigation.
  • Teaches online task management, digital file organization, and practical office applications.

6) Bakery, Barista & Sushi Training

This training offers skills that can lead to immediate employment in the hospitality industry.

  • Bakery: Instruction in preparing bread, cakes, pastries, and cookies.
  • Barista: Training in coffee preparation (espresso, latte, cappuccino) and coffee machine operation.
  • Sushi: Techniques for preparing traditional Japanese sushi dishes.
  • Provides strong employment opportunities in cafés, hotels, and restaurants after completion.

7) Religious Training (Mani & Molam)

This program aims to preserve the religious traditions, beliefs, and cultural heritage of the Sherpa community.

  • Teaches Buddhist mantras, prayers (Mani), and Molam rituals and practices.
  • Trains individuals to become Lama teachers and dedicated practitioners.
  • Supports the preservation of rituals, customs, and ceremonial practices required in monasteries and religious events.

8) Art & Culture Training (Syabru Dance and Syabru Songs)

This training plays a vital role in preserving Sherpa identity and cultural heritage.

  • Provides instruction in traditional Syabru dance and Syabru songs.
  • Prepares artists capable of performing at festivals, religious ceremonies, and social events.
  • Includes practical training in traditional attire, music, dance rhythms, and performance styles.
